What Ever Happened to Just Doing The Right Thing?

Photobucket

I was in some private discussions lately that left me wondering a lot.... Whatever happened to just doing the right thing? It's almost as if we have become afraid of it somehow... afraid we will be, or be labeled, as self-righteous, or Pharisaical, or some other terrible malady will seize upon us, if we simply do the right thing.
Conflict comes up between brothers in a church, over money issues in business. Tempers flare, words are spoken, lies get involved.... What ever happened to just DOING THE RIGHT THING? Give in. Let it go. Let the guy have the $$. It's only money, after all.  (1 Cor. 6:7)
Husbands come crying because their wife is mistreating them. Wives come crying because their feelings are being hurt, or they are not being heard.  I realize these are often very, very painful situations. I also realize they cannot all be treated in blanket statements, because of the complexity of the situations. But it seems to me, one thing remains fairly constant- Do the right thing. As Emmerson Eggrich so powerfully points out in the book 'Love and Respect', each man will be asked one day, "Did you show self-crucifying love to your wife?" There is no exception clause there for what kind of woman she is. The wife will be asked, "Did you do whatever you need to do to make this man feel respected?" ...again, no exception clause for jerks. (Eph 5:33)
The traffic gets jammed up, and people get all cranked up and pass on the left shoulder, etc etc. Why? Just do the right thing. I know it will make you late. So what? It's making me late too. And you going around and butting in, is wrong. Do the right thing. (Matt 7:12)
Another homeless guy is sitting at the crossroad bumming quarters.... probably not being very honest with his sign. Do the right thing.
A girl is all upset because her parents want her to dress a certain way, and she doesn't want to. So do the right thing already. So maybe your parents are old-fashioned and religious, stuck in a by-gone era. So what? If clothes can't keep you out of heaven, and we know for certain they can't get you in, then just do the right thing. ( Col 3:20)
Disagreements arise in churches, between brothers and sisters. Tongues wag, emotions skyrocket, people begin to react far more out of the emotion of the moment than from reality of Eternity. " Which side shall I join? Who is RIGHT? Who is going to WIN?" we ask anxiously. All focus goes to the direct issue at hand. Relationships, and any value they might have before God, gets put on a back burner. We begin to be very selective about who is coming over for dinner, or who we sit beside in church. Being RIGHT is most important of all. Really? Whatever happened to doing the right thing? Like, having a conversation with someone we disagree with, and blessing them for things of Christ we see in their lives? Like, going out of our way to speak good and not evil? Like, believing in them even tho it is reasonably certain our trust is misplaced and we will be hurt? (1 Cor 13:4-6)
" But Steve, you chust don't understand my situation!"
No, I agree, I probably don't.. But the Spirit said clearly thru Paul that "it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing," (Gal 4:18) even tho Paul was making the point that those good things will not save you. When Jesus gave the  allegory of the wise man and the house on a rock, the ROCK He spoke of was hearing..... and DOING THE RIGHT THING. But I have to ask- Why is it that something rises up in this generation and screams at the simple notion of doing the right thing?
" No religion," we parrot, "Only Jesus". Good. Please notice, however, that Jesus always did the right thing.... and if you would be a Disciple, then do the right thing.
No amount of  "just doing the right thing" will bring you into a right standing before a Holy God. That standing comes only by faith in Christ Jesus, trusting Him and entering into His death and resurrection, being cleansed by His blood thru faith, having Christ in you. That is the gospel. That is the reality of Eternal Life.
I am simply saying, if you have that Life, then do the right thing. What else do you want to do, the wrong thing?  Doing the right thing glorifies Christ (makes Him look good). The more difficult it is humanly speaking, the more it glorifies in the heavenlies. Doing the right thing keeps prayers from being hindered. Doing the right thing establishes righteousness on earth. Doing the right thing aligns your life with His Spirit. Doing the right thing strengthens relationships. Doing the right thing is redemptive. Doing the right thing is faith on display. Doing the right thing reflects Eternal life onto a fallen world.
And don't forget Kingdom economics...... Doing the right thing is the way we begin to understand. (John 7:17) If we determine to do the right thing, and do it, we will understand. Doing the right thing builds spiritual authority.
This New Year- do the right thing.

A Yummy Way to Cook A Turkey

Place whole, frozen turkey (thaw enough to remove giblets bag from inside turkey); or a turkey breast, (easiest way) in a roaster breast side up.
Pour 3 c. of chicken broth around turkey. (Canned broth or broth made with chicken bullion cubes.)
Sprinkle 2 TBSP. brown sugar into the broth.
Then over the top of the turkey sprinkle well with:
Dillweed (Note different than dill seed)
Black Pepper
Lemon Pepper
Salt
Rotisserie Chicken seasoning- until well covered!

************************
Bake all night at 300 degrees
In the morning pick turkey out of roaster onto tray to cool enough to pick meat
off of bones.
Put meat back into the broth in the roaster (or into a crockpot).

***************************
Again- sprinkle with all the seasonings well over top.
Add more broth, enough to cover the deboned turkey meat.
Then add 2 Tbsp. of vinegar to the broth to tenderize the meat.
Recover and bake until noon on 250 degrees.

***********************
When ready to serve drain off the broth and thicken with cornstarch to make a gravy to eat with mashed potatoes. Makes a yummy flavored gravy and very moist turkey meat!
Enjoy!

Ready to go into the oven!

Cancer Cannot…

Cripple love !
Corrode faith !
Eat away peace !
Shatter hope!
Kill friendship !
Silence courage !
Invade the soul !
Quench the spirit !
Destroy confidence !
Reduce eternal life !
Erase the promises of God !
Obliterate happy memories !
Shatter the hope of heaven !
Lesson the power of the resurrection !
Prevent the faithfully obedient from entering heaven !

Though the physical body may be destroyed by disease, the spirit can remain triumphant. If disease has invaded your body, refuse to let it touch your spirit. Your body can be severely afflicted, and you may have a struggle, But if you keep trusting God's love, your spirit will remain strong.

Why must I bear this pain? I cannot tell;
I only know my Lord does all things well.
And so I trust in God, my all in all.
For He will bring me through, whatever befall.

For my friends struggling with cancer or the effects cancer has done to the family.

How to do a hot Ginger foot soak...

... using ground Ginger from the spice cabinet.

The Ginger pulls out the toxins and loosens up the sinuses and lungs!

As with all natural remedies this may or may not work for you!

166121_1821638499608_5587859_n_zps527d03cf

Boil water in tea kettle.

Sit on chair with a towel under the dishpan.

Start with 2" of hot tap water.

Add heaping TBSP of ground Ginger to pan of water.

Soak feet. As water cools off add more hot from tea kettle sitting nearby.

Soak for 45 minutes. Ginger will make feet feel very warm.

Takes away cough, cold, and sore throat...or anything that ails you!! LOL!!! Feels sooo good!

A good time to sit and watch a movie or read a good book!

Your feet will get tingly and hot from the ginger!

I learned it from the book The Ten Essential Herbs book.

It is my favorite for herbal remedies using common herbs like ginger, cloves, cinnamon, etc.

It is an interesting read with testimonies, etc.

JayBerry read it in one sitting! Click on link to buy the book http://amzn.to/VIYddb

Then slather the bottom of your feet with Vicks or preferably natural medicated salve, I like Unker's, and put on a pair of clean socks.

(If you do this for children at night it takes away the cough so they can sleep!)

It will be cold then warm but will stop the cough!

Can put on chest too, if you don't mind the smell.

Continental Chicken

12 pieces boneless chicken breasts

1 jar dried beef

1 c. cream of chicken soup
1 c. cream of mushroom soup
1 lb. Sliced bacon
1 c. sour cream
½ c. milk

Wrap beef around each piece of chicken; then wrap
bacon strip around beef. Place in a greased baking
dish. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Drain off juice.
Mix the soups, sour cream, and milk. Pour over the meat.
Bake for another 15 minutes. The gravy is delicious
served over mashed potatoes!

PS. I am doubling this recipe for tonight's supper to make this big roaster full.

Recognizing A Stroke

Photobucket

Stroke has a new indicator! They say if you forward this to ten people, you stand a chance of saving one life. Will you send this along? Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue:

During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ...she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new s
hoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 PM Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and

Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.

T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. Chicken Soup)

R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is

'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

Song~Don't Tell Them Jesus Loves Them - Steve Camp

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-IHw8wr_-M&feature=related

Don't Tell Them Jesus Loves Them
- by Steve Camp

Oh suffering soul, crying out for
love In a world that seldom cares
See the hungry heart longing to be filled
Much more than our prayers
And a young girl sells herself on Seventh Avenue
And you hear her crying out for help,
"My God, what will we do?"

Don't tell them Jesus loves them
till you're ready to love them too
Till your heart breaks from the sorrow
and the pain they're going through
With a life full of compassion
may we do what we must do
Don't tell them Jesus loves them
till you're ready to love them too
Oh, the desperate man
Are we reaching for the souls
that are sinking down in sin?

Oh, cry for the child
We've lost our passion for the lost
and there are billions left to win
And another forty thousand children
starve to death today
Would we risk all we have
to see one of them say
Why have we waited so long
to show them Jesus lives
To share salvation's song
Why have our hearts become so proud
that we fail to see
To love them is to love God
And a young girl sells herself on Seventh Avenue
Hear her crying out for help,"What will we do?"
Don't tell them Jesus loves them...
'til you're ready to love them too.

Mama's Healing Salve

My friend, Leslie, makes a home made salve for an over all healing salve. My son slid down the stairs and got a bad carpet burn on his leg that just wasn't healing with regular antibiotic ointment for over a week. It was almost totally healed in 4 days with the use of this Mama's Healing Salve. He said it soothed it and made it feel better! He uses it for acne on his face nowadays! Go like her facebook page and try it! https://www.facebook.com/MamasHealingSalve
Blessings! TinaJewel
